Folkestone's mermaid sculpture was inspired by Copenhagen’s more idealised ‘Little Mermaid’. She was created by Cornelia Parker who chose a Folkestone local, Georgina Baker, to be the model for the life-size, life-cast sculpture. This beautiful photograph, which was taken by Folkestone-based Leah Gaynor, shows the mermaid gazing out to sea from Folkestone's Sunny Sands during a beautiful early morning sunrise. What could be a more perfect postcard?!
